Installation of Exchange Server 2010 Step by Step

Consider: Windows Server 2008 R2 in Hyper-V (member of a Domain Controller),  Hyper-V integration service is installed

Install Prerequisite

Dotnet framework 3.5 SP1, Powershell v2

Now follow these steps to Setup Exchange Server 2010:

  1. Double click the Setup.exe to start installation
  2. From the language option (Step 3) choose languages available in the DVD

  3. Now Click Install Exchange 2010, it will take sometimes to initialize.
  4. Setup will start with introduction screen, click Next to proceed.
  5. Accept License Agreement.
  6. Choose Yes or No for error reporting.
  7. Choose installation type, Typical or Custom. I have choose Custom Exchange server Installation option. Specify installation path and click Next.

  8. Now check the server roles that you want to install, Next.

  9. Client settings for Outlook 2003, i am leaving this option as NO. Click Next >

  10. Enter the Client access Settings for external domain, for example when you will access this server externally how you would identify this server or the URL. I have entered mymail.mroffice365.com, Next.

  11. Now the installer will check the readiness of your environment

  12. When the wizard finish completing the readiness check click Install. And it will start installing. Will take some minutes to complete.

  13. When done click Finish to complete the setup process.
  14. Now Open Exchange Management Console to make sure its properly installed. It will take time to initialize and finally the console will comes up with all the roles and other stuffs that you choose during setup.
